Learning to Read!!!!!

What a Wonderful Day!!!
One of my Kinder Kids was absent yesterday as her family went to Seoul for the day. She is very shy and takes awhile to warm up to you. Well today she was very excited to see me and she was really doing a fantastic job participating with Calendar etc.
Every day we are doing a daily sentence that the kids work on memorizing and now we are work on trying to read some of the words in the daily sentence.
They also practice writing the daily sentence once.
Well my kids went to get their pencils and Daily Sentence notebook out of their cubbies when my little girl who was absent the day before goes over to the paper on the wall that list all the daily sentences for the week.
What does she do next???
Out of nowhere she reads the sentence from the day she was absent. Milk is good for me.
Ok I was so excited!!! I praised her and praised her . Then I wrote today's daily sentence on the board and she read it too-We are learning about food.
Again I was so excited and praised and praised and bragged on her to the Principal etc.
So she literally was reading or trying to read everything!!! It was fantastic!!!!
At lunch time both my kids ran up and hugged me before I left the room (the kids eat lunch in the room with the Korean teacher). This was the first time they had done this-that was amazing!!!
We also made cow puppets today and talked about where milk comes from, one of my kids has a loose tooth,we did a science experiment talking about what makes diapers absorbent.
The kids got to add pink paint to water so they would be able to see the water when added to diaper. We opened up the diaper so they coukd see and touch what was inside-they were fascinated. When then had the special powder like they use in diapers to put on a napkin-the kids were amazed.
Also the school got a bunch of really cool books on CD today-including Chicka Chicka Boom Boom and Guess How Much I Love You-two of my favorites. We listened to those while making Cow and puppets etc. and they totally rock.

I know I have only been teaching in Korea a few weeks and kwno there will be bad or hard as well as Great and Good Days but really feel like this where I am meant to be right now!!!!

TTFN!!!!
